AJAX

One of the most exciting methods to be developed in the last couple of years is Asynchronous JavaScript And XML (AJAX). It's simple; create a JavaScript object of the XMLHttpRequest type, validate that it has been created successfully, point it where to go and where to send the results and then send it to the server via HTTP. The Asynchronous part means only a part of the page will be loaded so the whole page doesn't need to be refreshed.

Consider what this would mean to your customers who use 'slow' dial up connections to shop for one of your widgets. They no longer experience the long, slow wait for the widget details, photos and customer remarks to refresh the page, instead, their experience is almost instantaneous and they are so happy they buy a lot of widgets!

If you click on one of the questions over in the other box to the right, this content will be replaced with the answer to the question using AJAX. The page will not reload or refresh; only the contents of this box will be replaced.
